I watched this red squirrel feeding on the fungi growing on this ancient oak tree. A deep layer of lush green moss and fascinating lichens cover it’s trunk and branches. High on top of the ridge, I was among the treetops.
Mild winter temperatures with fine rain and bright spells are common here in Scotland’s rainforest. The squirrel’s winter coat was a bit damp and glowed in the afternoon light.
